   Betty Ray (Matthews) Holt passed away November 17, 2012. Betty was born on April 19, 1928 in Shattuck, Oklahoma.  She was the daughter of   H.A. “Slim” and Anna Mae (McCone) Matthews. She attended school here in Shattuck and graduated in 1946.
     After graduation, Betty married Bill Holt and resided in Shattuck.  On January 18, 1952 they had their daughter, Nancy.  In 1962, they moved to McCoy, Colorado where they had bought a ranch, and raised cattle.
     In 1970, Bill passed away and Betty continued to run the ranch until she sold it and moved back to Shattuck in 1980.
     Betty would travel back and forth from Shattuck to Rock Springs where her daughter Nancy and husband Frank Virden resided until their deaths.  Betty then came back to Shattuck, where she resided until her death.
     She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shattuck.  Betty was an EMT and then was on the Board for Ellis County and involved with that for several years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
      Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Holt, daughter and Son-in-law, Frank and Nancy Virden, her parents H.A. “Slim” and Anna Mae Matthews, and sister-in –law Neoma Matthews
     She is survived by her brother, Robert Edd Matthews of Shattuck, OK; her nephews and spouses: Mike and Elaine Matthews of Slapout, OK,  Tom and Sandy Matthews of Okarche, OK, Neal and Justina Matthews of Shattuck, OK, and Kelly and Anna Matthews of Noble, OK;  many great nephews and nieces, and a host of loving friends.


Graveside services will be  held Friday, November 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.  at the Shattuck Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Kenneth Platte  of The First Baptist Church officiating Mason Funeral Home of Shattuck, OK was in charge of the arrangements.
